Clinical Pastoral Education FAQ's

Are there classrooms or workspaces located at TACC specifically for CPE students?

Yes, we have a warm and open concept training room without desks. We also have a computer workstation for CPE students' use as well as limited access to the TACC staff copier/printer station.

What are the Clinical Requirements?

For a summer intensive unit, which is 10 to 11 weeks in duration, there are 27.5 clinical hours per week. For the Fall or Winter/Spring extended unit, which is 15 to 16 weeks in duration, there are 18.5 clinical hours per week. In addition, each unit has 10 urban bible study/worship service requirements, which totals for 25 clinical hours. There are five required events. The remaining urban worship/bible study services can be selected by the student in consultation with the CPE supervisor.

What are the clinical sites or Urban Community Sites? Can I pick my own site?

TACC Urban Community Placement sites are also known as clinical sites.  They are designed for CPE students to have an active clinical immersion in community awareness, outreach, and ministry.  The CPE Director will discuss the Urban Community Sites with you and make a decision based on site criteria, need, and overall fit for the student.

What are the clinical site /Urban Community Sites hours?

Please go to TACC Urban Community Placement sites page for more information and site hours.

Are there overnight or weekend duty requirements?

No, we do not have overnight duty requirements. In lieu of overnight duty, we have the 10 worship/bible study requirement per unit. However, some of the required services are on the weekend.
